Kimba Community Kindergarten

Welcome

At Kimba Community Kindergarten we believe that childhood is special and that all children have the right to the magic of childhood.

To run and jump in the sunshine,
To have time to think and investigate,
To laugh, to sing, to dance,
To feel special and loved,
To have fun!

We value Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Achievement.

Session Times

Pre-entry Kindergarten:

Your child is entitled to start Kindy at the beginning of the term in which he or she turns 4.

For the first term your child will attend Kindy for 1 session which is a half day per week. This is called pre entry.

If you live more than 10 kilometres from town your child may be able to start Pre-entry at 3 and a half.

This enables you to be more flexible with your sessions to compensate for long distances.

This is at the discretion of the Director so please come and discuss this further if you would like your child to start at this age.

Kindergarten:

Universal Access is a government initiative which entitles all four year olds to 15 hours per week of pre-school.

In our centre this will be delivered in two full day sessions and one half day session.

Our Kindy sessions from 2012 are as follows:

Full Day Sessions: 9.00am – 3.15pm, Tuesday and Wednesday
Thursday Session: 9.00am – 11.30am

Playgroup Information

Playgroup is held at the kindy on Friday mornings from 10.00am until 12.00am.

This is a chance for children to play together using the kindy facilities and for parents to get together socially while they supervise and provide activities for their children.

Playgroup can be as interesting as parents wish to make it—you decide how to make it work for you!

Contact the Kindy for more information.

Occasional Care

Occasional Care is a child care programme available for all parents of children under school age. It is designed to allow parents to undertake errands or attend appointments and to know their child is safe and secure.

Bookings can be made for a term at a time, one week prior or even at short notice in an emergency if needed. Bookings can be made through the Kindy, DURING KINDY HOURS ONLY.

Four sessions are available:-

Please note that due to insurance problems care is only available between those hours. Children can not be dropped off earlier or picked up later than these times.

Under childcare guidelines sick children should not attend these sessions. This includes children who are miserable from colds, ear infections etc. or those children who have fevers or contagious conditions.

Children are encouraged to bring a fruit or savoury item to eat at fruit time, which is in line with the kindy guidelines

Occasional Care enables children to interact with other children, learn to separate from parents, and to experience many of the Kindergarten’s facilities. Specific activities are planned for attending children.

These encourage the development of fine and gross motor skills. Occasional Care is a very good way for children to develop social skills and build confidence in the kindy environment before starting kindy.

Cost is $5.00 per session, however concessions are available for those on Health Care Cards.

Please note priority must be given to children with non working Mums or Dads when sessions places are limited.
